Social Hollywood Nightclub

Known for its excellent nightlife, Social Hollywood Nightclub is the place to throng for Halloween and New Year’s Eve. The interior of the bar and supper club resembles the old mansion of Hollywood. Conceived by Super-chef Michel Richard, the restaurant area of Social Hollywood Nightclub sports a menu which received three stars from Irene Virbila’s restaurant critic.

The upper portion of the game room is decked with board games, pool table and flat-screen TVs for revelers, desirous of seeking a break from dancing. For bigger events, a large area (formerly gymnasium) offers ample room for crowds. More intimate and smaller dinners and events may take place at the green room upstairs or at the private dining room.

Separate from Social Hollywood Nightclub venue, the restaurant has its own entrance. With restored original 1920s vaulted and frescoed ceiling, the door directly opens to a hall-like airy space. A table topped with Kumquat tree and a hot desk becomes the only delineation between the door and the dining room.

With the goal being ambience, the room has an ethereal effect, giving an impression of fancy restaurant, which may also be interpreted as too much. Globed, smoky lamps hang from mirrored columns over stemware laden tables with satiny spring green chair.

SOCIAL HOLLYWOOD INTERIORS

A fireplace fitted with glass hurricanes anchors the space. Above that, the print of citrus fruits appears befitting, though they aren’t congruent with the remaining styling. The floors are dark wood, rich and the center part of the restaurant is carpeted, rarely seen in LA restaurants, lending an air of distinction.

It is a wonderful mix of dream-like chime music and Sade, and a complete burst of Amy Winehouse, floated from the sound based system. To the main door, you have a double-doored hallway and a smaller bar within the dining region. Each time the front door is opened, as you know it, it is only due to the cool air wave (which, considering the entrance is right on the car-filled street appears more pleasant than it is).

MISCELLANEOUS

With plenty to look at and such heavy styling, the Social Hollywood Nightclub appears as a film set, made to impress not-yet jaded ones. The dining room images within the nightclub shimmer in its own soft glow of muted lighting. The tables below the light which gleam with all-size glasses, certainly appear beautiful, and the seats are highly comfortable for staring at the hypnotized ceiling.

The wine menu is well-rounded and international. You can start with a glass of Chantegrive Semillion/ Sauvignon Blanc, fitting to the environment and clean.

For appetizers, one can order the gougeres; the classic French cheese based puffs, served in wine cone and made with choux dough.
